I grew up in Florida where one of my favorite hobbies was kayaking. I do not currently own one, but I am thinking about getting back into it eventually. I had a good friend of mine invite me out to his dad's land in McMinnville to go kayaking over the weekend if the storms cleared up. Fortunately for us, they did.
It didn't take long on the river to reach this cool little waterfall. The biggest challenge was finding a place to safely unload my equipment without spilling it everywhere in the river. Dry bags were a huge help in keeping everything safely stowed in the kayak and also while standing under the waterfall.

After shooting the wide composition, I switched lenses to the 70-200 to shoot a tight detail shot of the moss and water flowing through it. I wanted to balance blurring the water and keeping the greenery sharp and opted to use a 3 stop neutral density filter instead.

Just before heading down the river I pulled out my iPhone 7 Plus and shot this photo of the waterfall using RAW capture in Lightroom Mobile. Editing was done on the desktop versions of Lightroom and Photoshop though to take full advantage of the .DNG file.

Fortunately we had decided to head back in before we knew that a huge storm was about to hit us. I don't know if I can recall a faster moving storm, not 10 minutes before this shot was hastily taken with my iPhone I was lamenting the blue sky there and was wanting a moody sky to place behind that lonely tree. I got my wish, and a little wet too.
